Back on line

Here I am again! We arrived at our lovely stone cottage on Saturday, but discovered the town library was closed until Tuesday, and so had no Internet access until now.
Don, intending to get the full use of his golf membership at Tain, has been out every day. He will have paid for the membership after two more rounds, so the rest of the month is free. The courses here are very challenging—gorse bushes, heather, strong winds, walled bunkers—but he’s starting to figure them out. So far, he’s averaging about 6 strokes above his Ottawa Valley average, but he hopes to improve on that. I’d report my scores, but since space is limited on this blog, I’d better not.
Yesterday we visited Brora golf course. Here the greens are surrounded by invisible fencing to keep the sheep off. Otherwise, sheep and golfers share the fairways, and if your drive lands in a sheep pattie, tough luck! We stopped in at Golspie golf course for lunch where I partook of my favourite dish—sticky toffee pudding. (So you see, I need to play a four-hour game of golf in order to work off all this food!)
On the way back to Dornoch, we watched seals at the Loch Fleet nature reserve. Here are some pictures from the last few days:

  2. I just remembered about the comments, so I'm going backwards! The accents are lovely, but there are a lot of Canadians/Americans here, so it sounds like home sometimes. Darn tourists!
